| When: | On Monday afternoons 4th Monday in Great Longstone |
| Venue: | Great Longstone Village Hall |
We meet between 2 and 4pm on the 4th Monday in the month at Great Longstone Village Hall.
Here are details of our meetings in the first half of 2026.
Most sessions follow the format of a prepared talk about an artist or art movement and the historical period in which their art was created, followed by questions and discussion. The speaker or session leader is usually a member of the group.
| January 26th: Early Christian C5th-C6th mosaics, particularly those in Ravenna. Led by Richard Tucker |
| February 23rd John Constable, led by David Thornton |
| March 23rd JMW Turner, led by Helen Parker |
| April 27th Johannes Vermeer, led by Martin Davey |
| May …Topic tbc. The meeting should be on Monday 25th, but this is the Spring Bank Holiday so we may well move the session to another day. |
| June … we will have a group outing to Derby Museum and Art Gallery to see “Wright of Derby: from the Shadows”, an exhibition that opens mid-month following its current staging at the National Gallery. More details to follow but please note, the trip will not be on a Monday because the Museum is closed. |
New group members are always welcome but most group members will be asked to prepare occasional contributions and presentations.
If you do not have transport to get to Great Longstone, lifts can usually be arranged.
